How do I find a field using geographic coordinates?

Overview

Track field conditions and make informed management decisions. Use geographic coordinates to add fields to your operation so you can add field notes and observations, create field plans, and more.

Requirements

  • An active Granular Insights account and access to an operation
  • An active internet or cellular connection
  • Access to a smartphone or computer

Process - Web 

  1. Log in to Granular Insights for Canada at https://ca.insights.granular.ag
  2. In the Field List on the left navigation menu, click Add Field.
  3. Enter the geographic coordinates into the search bar in the upper right corner using the format of latitude, longitude. 
    • Use an online converter if the coordinates aren't already in decimal format
  4. Select or draw the field boundary.  
  5. Enter a field name and assign a farm for the field (optional) on the left navigation menu and click Save Field.
  6. Your field is now saved to your operation and will appear in the Field List.  Navigate to Activities to assign a crop type for the field.

Process - Mobile

  1. Open the Granular Insights mobile app.
  2. From the Field List, click the Floating_Add_Symbol.png icon and select Field from the action menu.
  3. Enter the geographic coordinates into the search bar using the format of latitude, longitude.
    • Use an online converter if the coordinates aren't already in decimal format
  4. Select the field boundary and click Next.
  5. Enter a field name and a farm name (optional). Click Save Field.
  6. To assign a crop type for the field, navigate to the field. Under Field Health Summary, assign a crop type for the field. Click Save.
