Navigating Maps

The Map tab is the primary workspace for managing field boundaries. It also provides access to other related features such as field layers and field editor. The comprehensiveness and intuitiveness of the Map tab simplifies how users interact with and maintain field data across their operations.

Field View

Fields boundaries that are manually drawn, pre-defined (auto-detected) as well as those that are created from machine data or from uploaded boundary shapefiles are visible in Map.

Some key features of the field views in the Map tab are the following:

  • The field boundary icons on the field list and the field boundaries on the map are coloured to match the crop assigned to the field (e.g. corn = orange, soybeans = blue); fields with multiple crops assigned will show with a striped pattern to indicate the different crops.
  • When zoomed out, fields show in clusters when there are several near each other
    • Represented by a circle with a number indicating how many fields are part of the cluster
  • Blue dots on the map, sized base on the zoom scale, represent fields that are not in a cluster

Field Interaction

The Field list offers flexible ways to explore and manage your field data while keeping you operation organized.

These features include:

  • Zoom into a field boundary by clicking on the field in the Field list
  • Use the layers icon beside the field name to quickly access the layers for that field
  • Access field notes by clicking the notes icon on the top left of the map and toggling on Show note pins over map and then clicking on the pin on the map to see the note details
  • Access the field editor by clicking on the edit icon beside the field name on the field list
  • Add fields by clicking Add Fields on the top right of the screen
  • Collapse the field list entirely or section specific for a more focused view of the fields

Sorting and Filtering

Structure your field view based on your needs and streamline your field navigation to locate fields quickly.

Sorting and filtering tools available include:

  • Ability to sort fields by field name or farm, alphabetically from A-Z or Z-A or by acreage, low to high or high to low
  • Option to filter to a specific farm or field and the capability to select one or more fields at once
  • Filtering the field list by a specific year
  • Ability to group fields with two sections, active and archived, if applicable, as well as by farm

Search and Navigation

Several search tools are available to efficiently navigate the Map page.

  • In the upper right corner of the page, search field by farm or field
  • Search for a specific location using the location search field on the top right of the map
  • Use Locate Me to find your current position based on your GPS coordinates
  • Reset the map orientation back to the initial view that incapsulates ALL of the field boundaries for the operation
  • Zoom in for detail or out for a broader view by:
    •
      • Using the zoom map controls, or
      • Pinching in or out on a track pad or screen zoom
