How do I add or change the crops on my fields?
Overview
An important step in setting up your operation for the season is assigning crops to your fields in Granular Insights. In addition to helping you visualize which crops you have on which fields, you can use prior year crop assignments when making crop placement decisions. We’ve made it easier than ever to assign crop types (individually and in-bulk!) to your fields through the Activities tab.
Requirements:
- Admin, advisor or editor permissions on a Granular Insights operation with mapped fields
- Access to a computer with an active internet connection
You can add crop assignments to fields in bulk on the web only. You can also assign multiple crops to a field on the web; however, at this time, you cannot indicate the specific placement of these crops on your fields.
To bulk-assign crops to your fields:
- Log in to Granular Insights for Canada at https://ca.insights.granular.ag.
- On the left navigation menu, select Activities.
- Select the year you want to assign crops for from the drop-down list at the top right-hand corner of the screen.
- The year is defaulted to the current growing season.
- Select the fields you want to assign a crop to by clicking the checkbox to the left of the field name.
- If you want to assign the same crop to all fields, select the checkbox at the top left next to Field.
- Once you’ve selected the fields where you want to make changes, a new bulk action menu will appear at the bottom of your screen. Click on Add Crop.
- In the Add Crop window, select the crop you wish to assign to your field.
- Once your crop is selected, click Save to save your changes and exit the crop assignment menu.
You can follow these same steps to edit an existing crop assignment. To edit a crop assignment, instead of clicking Add Crop in step #5, above, click Edit Details.
To add crops to one field at a time:
Process - Web
- Log in to Granular Insights for Canada at https://ca.insights.granular.ag.
- On the left navigation menu, select Activities.
- Select the year you want to assign crop for from the drop-down list at the top right-hand corner of the screen.
- The year is defaulted to the current growing season.
- Under the crop assignment column, click Add Crop.
- Select the crop you want to assign to your field from the drop-down menu. If you want to assign multiple crops to the same field, simply select the + Add Crop button.
- If you add multiple crops to a field, you will see an additional row has been added under that field, for each crop (listed alphabetically). This allows you to create detailed field plans, by crop type.
- Once your crops are selected, click Save to save your changes and exit the crop assignment menu.
You can follow these same steps to edit an existing crop assignment. To edit a crop assignment, in step 5, select the new crop you'd like to place on that field in the drop-down list and then click Save. To delete a crop completely, click Delete Crop and then click Save. Confirm the deletion by clicking Delete.
