Understanding your Manually Uploaded Data

Uploading machine data in Granular Insights enables you to use powerful analysis tools to understand performance at an operation, field and sub-field level.

This article will help you to understand the information available in the Manage Data tab on Granular Insights for your manually uploaded files, including upload file status and error messages, the type of data uploaded, how to download and reprocess your data, and how to get more help when needed. Want to learn more about how to manually upload files in Granular Insights? Read the Manually Upload Machine Data article.

Manually uploaded files can be easily sorted by upload date, upload status and file name in ascending or descending order by clicking the up or down arrows next to each selection.

How do I interpret the different status types?

finished.jpgA Finished status indicates that your upload was successful and that data has come through to Granular Insights. It is still possible that part of the dataset could not come into the system as certain types of data are not yet supported by Granular Insights. Learn more about supported data types here.

An example may be application data, in which case a message similar to the one below may appear.

notA Not supported status indicates that your upload contained data that is not presently supported by Granular Insights. This could include an unsupported crop type or an unsupported monitor type as examples. For a list of supported monitor brands click here.

FileA File not readable status could indicate that your folder structure may not be correct or that the file type you have uploaded is not readable. This is common when shapefiles are uploaded in place of data or when files are not in a proper .zip file format. For proper folder structure requirements click here.

failed.jpgA Failed status indicates that the file upload was not successful, this could be caused by any number of different factors and will typically require the involvement of Granular Insights Support. Our Support Team information can be found by clicking here.

Upload details can be seen by clicking on the arrow to expand the toggle row.

You can also download or reprocess the data as needed, as well as get in touch with support through a direct email link by clicking the Get help option.

  • Downloading data will create a .zip file download of the dataset which will be saved to your device.
  • When you reprocess data, the data in the file will be processed again in Granular Insights, similar to when it was first uploaded. This can be helpful if you uploaded data for a new field and had autogenerated field boundaries turned off. Toggle on 'automatically create fields' (only available for planting and harvest data) and reprocess your data. Granular Insights will create a field boundary based on your data for any new fields. Learn more about autogenerate field boundaries here
