Import/Export a Map Layer
Import non-machine data layers to view on the map for even more comprehensive field and product analysis. Map Layers is in beta. Your feedback is appreciated as we continue to enhance and improve this functionality.
Process – Web
- Log in to Granular Insights at https://us.insights.granular.ag.
- Click the Map Layers tab on the left navigation menu.
- Select the field where you want to import the map layer.
- Click Import Layer at the bottom of the field window.
- Drag and drop your files on the Select a file to import box or click Select File and manually search the file(s) to upload from your computer.
Note:

- We support the import of Generic, Irrigation, MYYA Class, Relative Productivity, Trials and Soil Test layers
- You can also import layers in bulk.
- Once the layer files have been selected, click Load File to upload and process the layer. If incorrect file(s) are showing, click Select new file to remove them and select the correct one(s).
- Enter a name for the imported layer(s).
Note:

- If a single layer is being imported, a preview of the layer will be displayed under the Import Layer window.
- To name all the imported layers the same, click Rename All Selected Layers
- Select the layer type and define the attributes (if there are known attributes that are required).
Layer Types

Generic – used for additional layers with assigned attributes (i.e. fertility recommendation layer, older VRS recommendation layer, etc)

Irrigation – represents the irrigated area of a field; Analysis can use this layer to inform the irrigated vs dryland yields of fields

Trial – defines one or more attributes to be tested on a field or to plan and execute a trial
-
Soil Test – will be available to be transferred to FieldAlytics

Relative Productivity – editable layers used in VRS; similar to decision zones

- If there are any errors with the layer (e.g. missing attributes), Error Messages will appear at the bottom of the Import Layer window. Click on it to view more information about the errors.
9. Click Upload Layers. You will now see the new layer under the Layers list.

Bulk import up to 500 layers:

- From the fields list, click Bulk Import Layers at the bottom of the window.
- Drag and drop or select the .zip file containing the layers. The file can contain multiple shapefiles to be imported but they must all be the same layer type (e.g. 10 trial layers NOT 7 trial layers and 3 irrigation layers)
- Repeat steps 6 through 9 above.
- You can also export a Map Layer:

- From Map Layers, select the field you want to export layers from.
- Click on the layer that you want to export to display the action menu and click on it.
- Click Export Layer.
- Select the format (Shapefile or GeoJSON) to export the layers in and click Export.
- The layer will be exported to your Downloads folder.
