July 2020: Choose How Field Boundaries Are Created
Now, you can select how field boundaries are created in your Granular Insights account with a simple toggle button in the Operations Settings page.
You can create field boundaries in Granular Insights in the following ways:
- Boundaries are automatically created when you upload planting or harvest data files
- Boundaries are automatically created when you make a data connection between your Granular Insights account and Corteva Fields or John Deere Operations Center
- Manually add shapefiles
- When you select “Add Field”, you can select a field boundary based on boundaries detected by satellite imagery
As a default, your account will be set to allow automatic field boundary creation based on field activity data from uploaded files or data connections. Automatic field boundary creation makes Granular Insights easy to get started -- all you have to do is upload planting or yield data to immediately begin analyzing your field.
At any time, you can go to the Operations Settings page and turn the automatic field creation off so that field activity data from uploaded files or data connections will not be used to automatically create new field boundaries or add to existing boundaries. If your field boundaries have already been created to your satisfaction within your Granular Insights account, turning the automatic field creation off can ensure that your field boundaries are not altered and no additional fields are accidentally created when you upload planting and yield data. If you upload planting or yield data without a boundary when this setting is off, your data will not display in Granular Insights until a boundary has been manually created.
