Archiving and unarchiving fields boundaries

Overview

From season to season, users may need to archive or unarchive fields due to various circumstances.

Requirements

  • Active boundaries in Granular Insights.

Unarchive Process

  1. From the field list on the Map tab, select the field you want to unarchive.
  2. Click on Edit Field.
  3. At the bottom of the page, select Unarchive Field
  4. A popup will appear, Unarchive Field.  After selecting this, your field will be considered active and start appearing in the field list again.

Archive Process

  1. From the field list on the Map tab, select the field you want to archive.
  2. Click on Edit Field.
  3. At the bottom of the page, select Archive Field
  4. A popup will appear, Archive Field.  Archived fields will no longer be considered active.  Your data will be preserved.  You can always unarchive the field later from the field list.
  5. If you would rather delete the field and all data, select Delete Field.

What happens to my data when I archive a field?

  • Archiving a field moves it to the archived section of the field list.
  • If a field is Archived in 2022, Activities cannot be created on that field for 2022. However, the archived field will still show in Activities in 2021 and in years prior.
  • No data is lost when a field is archived. When an activity is deleted, then the machine data is also deleted. Users will need to re-upload the data to get it back.
  • In order for machine data to link to a field, the field must be (or have been) active when the machine data is recorded. For example, if a user plants in April, archives the field in November, and then uploads the machine data from the April planting in December, that machine data will properly link to the field.
  • Archived fields with data will show and factor into calculations on the Summary page in Insights

At this time, fields can be archived/unarchived individually. There is no bulk edit feature.
