Generate a Variable Rate Seeding (VRS) Recommendation

Generating variable rate seeding recommendations allows to optimize seed placement based on field variability, helping improve yield potential and input efficiency.

Process – Web

  1. Log in to Granular Insights for Canada at https://ca.app.granular.ag.
  2. Click the VRS tab on the left navigation menu.
  3. Ensure that the field(s) that you want to generate recommendations for have a crop assigned, a decision zone selected, a yield goal entered and a primary variety selected. Once all necessary components needed to run VRS are entered, you can generate a recommendation.

    Note:
    • If Smart Defaults have not been set and activated, no automated decision zones will be generated.

  4. Click the kabob menu on the right of the field row for the field to generate a VRS recommendation. Click Run VRS.

    Note:
    • You can also select multiple fields at once. The bulk action menu will become available at the bottom of the screen. Click Run VRS.

  5. Make any adjustments that you want to the variety seeding curves. Select if you want to customize seeding curves for irrigation and include backup plans.

    Notes:
    • If you only want to run recommendations for the primary varieties, ensure that Include Backup Plans is not check marked.
    • If there are some varieties that you want to exclude from having backup plans generated for, uncheck the varieties in the list.

  6. Once the information is as you want it, click Save. The recommendations will process.
  7. When the recommendations have processed, under the Status column, it will be indicated as New. Recommendations are now ready to be exported. Learn more on how to export a VRS recommendation. You also have the option of changing the Status to Viewed, In Review or Ready for Export depending on what stage it is at.
