Generate a Variable Rate Seeding (VRS) Recommendation
Generating variable rate seeding recommendations allows to optimize seed placement based on field variability, helping improve yield potential and input efficiency.
Process – Web
- Log in to Granular Insights for Canada at https://ca.app.granular.ag.
- Click the VRS tab on the left navigation menu.
- Ensure that the field(s) that you want to generate recommendations for have a crop assigned, a decision zone selected, a yield goal entered and a primary variety selected. Once all necessary components needed to run VRS are entered, you can generate a recommendation.
Note:- If Smart Defaults have not been set and activated, no automated decision zones will be generated.

- Click the kabob menu
on the right of the field row for the field to generate a VRS recommendation. Click Run VRS.
Note:- You can also select multiple fields at once. The bulk action menu will become available at the bottom of the screen. Click Run VRS.

- Make any adjustments that you want to the variety seeding curves. Select if you want to customize seeding curves for irrigation and include backup plans.
Notes:- If you only want to run recommendations for the primary varieties, ensure that Include Backup Plans is not check marked.
- If there are some varieties that you want to exclude from having backup plans generated for, uncheck the varieties in the list.
- Once the information is as you want it, click Save. The recommendations will process.
- When the recommendations have processed, under the Status column, it will be indicated as New. Recommendations are now ready to be exported. Learn more on how to export a VRS recommendation. You also have the option of changing the Status to Viewed, In Review or Ready for Export depending on what stage it is at.
